  There’s  something  enchanting  about  the  All  About  Baking  store.  It’s  like

you’re  entering  the  house  of  the  wicked  witch  in  Hansel  and  Gretel,  but  the

difference  is,  the  inside  of  the  store  is  just  as  whimsical  as  the  outside.  You’d  see  row

after  row  after  row  filled  with  sweets  and  goodies-­‐  chocolates,  marshmallows,  icing

flowers  and  the  list  goes  on.  The  shop  also  caters  to  different  baking  needs  from

pans  and  molds  to  plastic  wine  glasses  and  party  giveaways.  If  you’re  looking  for

affordable  baking  goods,  All  About  Baking  is  definitely  worth  a  visit.

Ma  Mon  Luk

“Ma  Mon  Luk  (simplified  Chinese:  马文祿;  traditional  Chinese:  馬文祿)  (1896-­‐1961)
was  a  pioneering  Chinese  Filipino  chef  and  entrepreneur.  He  established  the
popular  Chinese  restaurant  that  bears  his  name,  Ma  Mon  Luk.”  (Wikipedia)
  Famous  for  their  mami  and  siopao,  Ma  Mon  Luk  is  a  noodle  shop  with  a
history.  Dating  back  as  early  as  the  1900’s,  their  recipe  has  never  changed  where
you’d  still  get  that  foul  smelling  soup  stench  with  that  chewy  noodles,  but  don’t  let
the  scent  fool  you,  it’s  really  good  and  wholesome.  The  noodle  soup  is  really  good
with  their  siopao  soup,  it  gives  you  that  salty  and  sweet  flavor  that  could  take  you
back  to  your  childhood  and  it’s  better  than  your  mother’s  chicken  noodle  soup.
  The  flavors  don’t  only  transport  you,  but  if  you  take  your  time  and  absorb  the
place,  it  provides  you  with  an  ambiance  as  if  you  were  in  Old  Town  Manila  during
the  colonial  times.  The  old  style  tables  down  to  the  décor  would  take  you  back.  If
you  are  hitting  the  streets  of  Banawe,  this  noodle  house  is  worth  a  try. 

 Tzu  Chi  Foundation

  As  for  someone  who  has  been  to  the  interior  walls  of  the  Tzu  Chi  foundation,

I  find  this  place  as  an  escape  from  the  hustle  of  Banawe.  It’s  a  magnificent  place  to

be  in  since  the  serenity  and  calmness  of  the  dharma  exudes  everywhere.  The  Tzu

Chi  foundation  isn’t  simply  a  “Buddhist  temple”,  it’s  really  active  in  terms  of  social

welfare  and  charitable  acts.  

  If  ever  you  get  a  chance  to  visit  the  place,  take  time  to  meditate  and  clear

your  mind.  There  are  three  things  that  the  master  would  teach  you:  May  all  minds

be  purified,  may  there  be  peace  in  the  community,  and  may  there  be  no  disasters  in

this  world.  It  also  gives  you  a  chance  to  do  some  volunteer  work  if  you  feel  that  you

could  lend  a  hand,  they’re  always  welcome  to  those  who  wants  to  work  with  them.

  Found  at  the  heart  of  Doña  Josefa,  it’s  really  hard  to  miss.
